Description:
Chateau Prieure-Lichine's large, 70-hectare vineyard stretches over five villages in the Margaux appellation. Acquired by the Balland group in June 1999, the estate has greatly benefited from thenew owners' efforts since that date. Vineyard plots are managed separately to make the most of each one, and Biological pest control is used. The grapes are picked by hand into small crates. Theyare destemmed without crushing, sorted on specially-adapted tables before being put into vat, and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, where the lees are stirred with a stick. The estate's philosophy: to introduce a new approach to viticulture in order to be more in tune with the terroir, and to consider the diversity of our soils as anadvantage.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Medium to deep garnet-purple color, the 2017 Prieure-Lichine is composed of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new. It rocks up with expressive blackcurrant cordial, stewed plums and boysenberries scents plus suggestions of unsmoked cigars, cedar chest and cardamom. Medium-bodied, the palate has a solid frame of chewy tannins and bold freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing on a stewed tea note.
